Job description

CITY OF ELKHART – JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Lerner Theatre
POSITION: Box Office/Clerical
STATUS : Part-Time
CATEGORY: Hourly, $12-$14
FLSA : Non-exempt
REPORTS TO : Box Office Supervisor
Work Schedule (Part-Time Position, 4-16 hours weekly):
  • Show Days: Shifts begin at 10 AM and end 30 minutes after the show starts, typically lasting 4-5 hours.
  • Weekdays (Monday - Friday): 12 PM - 5 PM.
  • Saturdays (No Show Days): 9 AM - 1 PM.

JOB SUMMARY
  • Handles Box Office Sales (including internet sales), refunds, comps, ticket stubs, consignments, etc.
  • Reconciles all Box Office transactions, including daily accounting for cash, checks, charges, and reconciling to the ticket system reports
  • Maintains ticket inventory and forms needed to reconcile
  • Works shows, closes Box Office, and reconciles specific show sales
  • Receptionist for the Lerner
  • Clerical duties as time permits

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Window sales
  • Daily opening and closing
  • Accountability for all banks in ticket office
  • Responsible for all tickets sales, cash, checks, charges and the reconciliation of each
  • Turns reconciliations in to the Lerner Manager for approval daily
  • Receptionist’s duties – handles all calls in a business-like manner

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works shows driven by theatre schedule, arriving one hour before each show and stays until Manager has all the information needed to proceed with the shows closing
Manages the postage and copy machine for the Lerner
Remains flexible to take part in other duties and be a team player
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of accredited high school
Microsoft computer experience (At least 1 yr)
Excel spread sheets
Receptionist’s experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Microsoft Office
Ability to work under stress and fast paced environment
Ability to handle concerns of general public courteously and efficiently
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to stay calm under pressure
Vision clarity for long hours of working on the computer and on spread sheets
WORKING CONDITIONS
Fast-paced office that requires interaction with other staff
Constant customer contact
POST OFFER TESTING REQUIREMENTS
The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore, successfully passing a post offer drug screen is required (random drug testing may be conducted after employment).
Background checks producing acceptable BMV and criminal history reports required.
