Position Summary
The Door Technician Assistant position is designed for individuals eager to learn the technical and mechanical skills needed to become a full-fledged Door Technician. You’ll work directly alongside experienced installers and service technicians, assisting with hands-on projects while gaining exposure to a wide variety of door, glass, and hardware systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone mechanically inclined who wants to learn a specialty trade within the construction industry that offers stability, variety, and room for growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist lead technicians with the installation, service, and repair of: automatic sliding and swinging doors; aluminum storefront and glass doors; hollow metal and wood commercial doors; residential windows and glass; door closers, locks, hinges, and access control hardware; and drive-thru windows and custom entry systems.
• Support technicians in measuring, cutting, fitting, and glazing materials.
• Safely handle and transport glass and door components to job sites.
• Help prepare work areas and clean up after job completion.
• Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in good working condition.
• Learn and apply safety procedures, manufacturer standards, and installation best practices.
• Provide friendly, professional assistance to customers and represent Bowen Door Service with integrity.
Qualifications
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Reliable transportation to and from the shop or job sites.
• Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work safely on ladders and lifts.
• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
• Professional appearance, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
Preferred (but not required):
• Experience in construction, glass, glazing, or hardware installation.
• Familiarity with power tools and basic hand tools.
• OSHA 10, forklift, or lift certifications.
• Any background in carpentry, maintenance, or building trades.
