General Description:
The Senior Payroll Specialist ensures prompt and precise payroll processing for employees, undertaking complex tasks such as accurate deduction and tax calculations to ensure timely and accurate employee payments. Moreover, they provide guidance and support to fellow payroll team members.
Essential Duties:
• Execute and review payroll meticulously on a consistent basis, guaranteeing the accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
• Maintain thorough payroll data, including employee details, tax withholding statuses, and other pertinent information.
• Effectively address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees, managers, and stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Conduct thorough reconciliations of payroll-related accounts, including payroll tax liabilities and employee benefit deductions, to maintain financial integrity.
• Manage garnishment procedures, including form completion, employee notification, agency correspondence, and system setup.
• Generate and distribute payroll reports as needed, providing insights and analytics for informed decision-making.
• Oversee time and attendance systems, guaranteeing the accuracy of data to support efficient payroll processing.
• Assist with prevailing wage compliance, including but not limited to confirming pay schedules, and rates according to compliance requirements.
• Assist with certified payroll compliance, by submitting, weekly and monthly compliance reporting to General Contractors and DIR.
• Assist and fulfill reporting requirements related to union agreements, maintaining transparency and compliance.
• Must keep abreast of all company, state, and federal regulations or laws at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.
Experiences:
• Associates of the Arts or Associates of Science in accounting, and/or, at least five (5) years of experience processing payroll for 300+ employees, in Construction
• Knowledge of certified payroll and prevailing wage payroll.
• Union construction payroll experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:
- Knowledge of prevailing wage and union laws.
- strong excel skills including lookup functions and pivot tables.
- ADP Workforce Now and COINS experience is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

- A CPP (Certified Payroll Practitioner) certification would be a plus, but not a requirement.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Requirements: This position is primarily sedentary to light work in nature. The employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods, use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and office equipment, and occasionally stand, walk, bend, or reach. The employee may occasionally lift or move office materials such as files, binders, laptops, or boxes of supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
