Job Overview

RedTown Technical Services, LLC is seeking an Electrician for the BOP Taft Correctional Institution Maintenance and Security Services contract. The Electrician will install, repair and maintain the electrical systems at Taft Correctional Institute. The hourly pay for this position is $40.00 with a $4.93 hourly Health & Welfare benefit. H&W is not applied to overtime hours worked. ย 


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Executing electrical wiring plans, installing fixtures and equipment and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Performing general electric maintenance, inspecting electrical components, repairing electrical appliances as necessary and maintaining documentation of all such repairs and services.
  • Maintaining building systems in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Monitoring parts, materials, and supply inventories (and related inventory controls) essential for operation and repair/maintenance of electrical systems to ensure uninterrupted service to the facility while keeping inventory levels within approved range of the BOP Facility Manager.
  • Maintaining Electrical distribution systems, such as Switchgear, Secondary Switchgear, distribution panels, transformers, lighting, etc. in accordance with Standard for Maintenance Testing Specifications and BOP policy.
  • Supporting BOP energy management initiatives oriented toward utility conservation and documenting any changes to the system/s or BAS that have been approved by the BOP Facility Manager.
  • Willing and available to respond quickly to emergency situations at all times, including non-working hours, should emergencies occur.

Qualifications/Education Requirements

  • Must hold a current C-10 License.
  • Must possess the ability to understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams when installing or replacing wiring, lighting, electrical controls, breakers and other electrical devices.
  • Experience using various devices, including ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners and cable testers, as well as hand and power tools.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to adhere to state and local building regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills while working with other electricians, general contractors, architects and team members.
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting work completed and materials used.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with a commitment to completing work orders on time.
  • Ability to climb and maneuver in tight spaces, on ladders, and on work and staging platforms; ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds; ability to work 80-90% of the time standing.
