About Us

We are a growing property management company seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of our company and portfolio of properties. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reconciliations, supporting financial reporting, and collaborating with multiple departments to ensure efficient accounting operations.

Position Summary

The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions for the company and its portfolio of properties. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCash Flow Management
  • Monitor and manage cash flow for both company and property operations.
  • Process payments to vendors, service providers, and financial institutions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with monitoring account balances and cash requirements.
Reconciliations
  • Perform bank account, credit card, vendor statement, and tenant ledger reconciliations.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
Month-End Closing
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly closing processes.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and supporting documentation.
Property Accounting
  • Prepare and maintain property-specific financial records.
  • Assist with financial reporting for individual properties.
  • Ensure proper allocation of expenses and accurate account coding.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Support annual audits and provide documentation requested by external accountants.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Collaboration
  • Work closely with Operations, Human Resources, Compliance, Property Management, and other departments to resolve accounting-related matters.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with vendors, residents, and external business partners when necessary.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain organized financial files and accounting records.
  • Assist with special accounting projects and reporting requests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
  • Property management or real estate accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks required.
  • Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong data entry and accounting software skills.
