Job description

POSITION SUMMARY Under immediate supervision, reshelves library materials, maintains materials in the library collection in a neat and orderly fashion, assists in other support tasks as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Accurately performs alpha-numeric sorting, filing, and shelving. Arranges returned materials on book carts and re-shelves in proper order.

Empties sorter bins as appropriate. Shifts and shelf-reads materials throughout the library collection. Answers directional questions and refers patrons to appropriate personnel.

Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Requires high school enrollment or completion and the following abilities: Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Ability to efficiently sort in alphabetic or numeric order and develop a working understanding of the Dewey Decimal System. Ability to effectively communicate with the public and staff.

Ability to participate in and maintain a courteous and cooperative work environment. Ability to efficiently perform routine library procedures. Ability to perform moderately heavy physical work to include bending, reaching, and crouching; pushing and pulling carts; and lifting and carrying materials.

Ability to maintain a regular work schedule and apply time-management skills. SUPPLMENTAL INFORMATION This position is part-time; anticipated 10-15 hours per week
