Summary:
Maintains pressure set points and chemicals to keep the boiler steam at the correct level for drying lumber properly. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to meet all the essential responsibilities and perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.
Essenrtial Responsibilities:
  • Safety: Follows all safety rules, proper ergonomics and safety programs. Always wears the proper PPE, clothing and footwear. Adheres at all times to the Entanglement policy. Owns daily cleanliness of work area. Maintains area orderly, clean and free from hazards.
  • Attendance: The employee is expected to be at their workstation/area at the start of the assigned shift. On time, regular and consistent attendance is a requirement of the job.
  • Monitor and adjust dust feed and air flow settings
  • Maintain boiler log hourly
  • Monitor and adjust chemical level
  • Assists with monitoring kiln temperatures
  • Housekeeping

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma/GED preferred
  • Prior experience in boiler operation (2 years) required
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work well with others in a close environment
  • Must have basic math skills

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures
