Job Overview:

The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking a Boiler Operator Apprentice/Boiler Operator to work at our facility in Springfield, MO. Under the direction of the Maintenance leadership, this position will focus on training in the preventative maintenance programs and standard operating procedures that maintain the equipment's base condition. Have a basic mechanical skill in proper installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for meeting KHMS requirements as outlined in the Maintenance, Reliability and Engineering (MRE) Pillar along with the Trio maintenance portions.

  • Train in the current standard operating procedures that will deliver knowledge to complete the following:

  • Operate, maintain and solve problems with Ammonia refrigerant Boiler steam, pneumatic system, HVAC Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition system equipment.

  • Water Quality Systems for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources:

  • High pressure steam control systems

  • Fire protection and sprinkler systems

  • Sanitary and storm sewer systems

  • Freon air conditioning equipment

  • Environmental and process dehumidification equipment

  • Implement PSM Process Safety Management program tasks

  • Analyze equipment failures. Recommend and implement corrective action

  • Active member of the Plant Emergency Response Team

  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement tasks on equipment and system design

  • Assist the maintenance leadership with equipment bill of materials

  • Support maintenance leadership with spare parts inventory levels for plant equipment

  • Provide training for other associates (technical or production) as needed

  • Support and maintain positive rapport with customers, suppliers, contractors and 3rd party associates

  • Support and participant on assigned teams and support team decisions

  • Required to carry a company phone and respond to emergency calls

  • Expected to provide coverage for peers on vacation, training, sick and meetings

  • Proficient in fabrication, welding, threaded piping systems and hand tool proper usage.

  • Research and requisition all spare parts needed to accomplish job tasks

  • Active member of the Plant Emergency Response Team

  • Work with the team members to insure a 24-hour, 7-day operation coverage for the Utilities systems is implemented weekly.

  • Position requires the ability to communicate ideas/facts clearly and concisely.

  • Will use a computer to communicate and complete job task using SAP and Microsoft Office business applications.

  • Accountable for the Safety, Health and Environmental systems and operational standards to ensure compliance as is outlined in our policies/procedures and processes. Must report and/or correct unsafe acts or conditions as well as perform work safely, including following GMP and PPE guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a basic theory knowledge of industrial utility systems that include refrigeration, vacuum, compressed air, water distribution, and boiler systems.

Physical Requirements:
  • Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, sorting, ascending and descending; and moves up to 50 pounds; holds and grips object; must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment and disassemble and reassemble equipment.

Working Environments:

  • Primarily indoors in both a hot, humid production environment and cold, cooler environment.

Additional information:

Once the Trainee has been completed, including all required training courses, the successful candidate will be required to move into the next available Boiler or Refrigeration position when it comes open.
