Job description

Production- Energy Recovery Unit Specialist, Circleville OH

Starting Pay: $30.93

Shift: Work Schedule: The ERU works 24/7/365 4- shift rotating schedule: Starting Monday, work 5 afternoon shifts: 2:30pm to 10:45pm, off 4 days, work 7 midnight shifts: 10:30pm to 6:45am, off 2 days, work 7-day shifts: 6:30am to 2:45pm, off 3 days, rotation repeats. 

As an Energy Recovery Unit Specialist, you will be a crucial part of our operations, ensuring that quality products are available to our customers when they need them. Your work will directly affect people's lives!  PPG Circleville Ohio plant is the company's center for Resin production.  The Energy Recovery Unit (ERU) is located adjacent to PPG's resin manufacturing plant. The ERU uses rotary kiln incineration technology to reduce PPG North America coatings and resin waste while generating steam energy for the resin manufacturing plant.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Scans and oversees the entire operation through control system consoles, process cameras, and visual observations and will follow the process schedules to initiate the charging of waste feeds to the kiln.
  • Responsible for the operation of the equipment in the utility center and the incineration train downstream of the kiln elevator.
  • Pull samples of the boiler feed water and containment water, perform various tests, and adjust the treatment system.
  • Responsible for the hose setups for blending waste in the tank storage cells, charging the incineration feeds to the kiln, and loading/managing the conveyors.
  • Setup tank cleaning and be responsible for piping the lines to the kiln.
  • Maintain machines, equipment, the physical plant, and its components and troubleshoot various mechanical and electrical failures, attempting to provide repairs and correction actions.
  • Assist with a preventative maintenance program to ensure long life and continued operation of equipment and department facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a qualified journeyman in industrial craft (pipefitter, electrician, HVAC, automotive ASE, etc.) or at least 2 to 4 years of general industrial mechanical experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a high-pressure boiler operator’s license from the state of Ohio within one year. Training time and cost will be covered by PPG.
  • The candidate must have the capability to be thoroughly familiar with the entire incineration process to be able to respond and maintain system to operating parameters.
  • Must have fundamental observation, computer, and communication capabilities and be able to work without immediate supervision.
  • Ability to read blueprints, equipment service manuals and repair procedures and be able to apply general knowledge of shop mathematics and mechanics.
