Job description

Start your career as a Maintenance Technician / Boiler Operator Trainee-no license required to begin. We'll pay you to train, support you in earning your license within 12 months, and help you build a long-term, high-demand skillset at Crane Currency.

How you will make an impact:

This is a great opportunity for a mechanically inclined technician who wants to build a long-term career in power plant operations. You'll start by supporting maintenance and boiler operations, while training to become a licensed Boiler Operator. Within your first 12 months, you'll complete formal training and obtain your Massachusetts 2nd Class Fireman's License-with full support from Crane.

  • Support operation of boilers and power plant systems to ensure consistent steam and utility supply
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on plant equipment
  • Assist with startup/shutdown of boilers, pumps, and associated systems
  • Monitor system performance, alarms, and safety interlocks
  • Support water treatment testing and maintain proper chemical balance
  • Complete mechanical tasks such as pipe fitting, valve replacement, and steam system repairs (with training)
  • Learn and follow all safety and compliance requirements

Knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Hands-on maintenance or mechanical experience (industrial, facilities, military, or similar)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn a skilled trade
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule (12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends)
  • Willingness and ability to complete boiler operator training and obtain a MA 2nd Class Fireman's License within 12 months
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to meet Public Trust requirements

Preferred:

  • Experience in manufacturing, utilities, or plant maintenance
  • Exposure to boilers, steam systems, or HVAC systems
  • Basic troubleshooting or mechanical repair experience
  • Trade school or technical training

Schedule & Pay:

  • 12-hour rotating shifts (days/nights)
  • Shift differential for nights
  • Time and a half over 8 hours in a day, double time on Sundays

The salary range for this role is$27.56 - $34.76hourly. Pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.
