Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Sr Truck Body Shop Tech to join our Field Maintenance Team to support the future growth of the Company. This is an on-site role and we do not provide emergency road services. If you are looking for a new place to call home, we would love to talk to you! Sr Truck Body Shop Technician will be responsible for performing advanced panel and bumper replacement/repair, heavy wreck repairs, suspension, structural frame repair, parts removal, caulking/sealing, fiberglass work, plastic repair and other duties as assigned such as removing decals, paint preparation, sanding/grinding,
structural steel and aluminum welding, engine/transmission component replacement/repair, electrical wiring replacement/repair. Heavily relied upon for advanced structural repairs and triage of complicated repairs by Truck Body ShopTechnician I/II. A successful Sr Truck Body Shop Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.
Primary Duties/Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Perform advanced adjustments and repairs, panel and bumper replacement/repair, heavy wreck repairs, suspension,
structural frame repair, parts removal, caulking/sealing, fiberglass work, plastic repair and other duties as assigned such as removing decals, paint preparation, sanding/grinding, structural steel and aluminum welding,
engine/transmission component replacement/repair, electrical wiring replacement/repair in a Shop environment.
โ€ข Perform intermediate adjustments and repairs, panel and bumper replacement/repair, parts removal, caulking/sealing, fiberglass work, plastic repair and other duties as assigned such as removing decals, paint
preparation, sanding/grinding, non-structural steel, and aluminum welding in a Shop environment.
โ€ข Perform minor adjustments and light repairs on various types of Truck equipment including small panel and bumper replacement/repair, parts removal, caulking/sealing, and other duties as assigned such as removing decals, paint
preparation, sanding/grinding in a Shop environment.
โ€ข Participate in and complete all-in company required training Perform intermediate adjustments and repairs, panel and bumper replacement/repair, parts removal, caulking/sealing, fiberglass work, plastic repair and other duties as
assigned such as removing decals, paint preparation, sanding/grinding, non-structural steel and aluminum welding in a Shop environment.
โ€ข Support Truck Body Shop Technician I/II in obtaining correct parts for each job.
โ€ข Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.
โ€ข Assist Truck Body Shop Technicians I/II with advanced/complicated repairs.
โ€ข Inspect all repaired and primed panels for proper and complete body repairs and primer application by Truck Body Shop Tech I/II.
โ€ข Work with Service Writer/Estimator/Parts to assess customer needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectations.
โ€ข Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
โ€ข Assist Truck Body Shop Technician I with repairs.
โ€ข Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.
โ€ข Use hand tools, welding equipment as well as basic power tools and safety equipment such as lifts, jacks, and stands.
โ€ข Document according to company standards such as pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders ("RO") using company issued device and/or Karmak application.
โ€ข Remain up to date on safety protocols and industry procedures
โ€ข Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate
alternatives.
โ€ข Document according to company standards such as pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings
observed on Repair Orders ("RO") using company issued device and/or Karmak application.
โ€ข Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.
โ€ข Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to discuss RO findings notes.
โ€ข Accurately complete all forms of documentation including basic job descriptions on Repair Order and daily worked
hours on Karmak application in a timely fashion.
โ€ข Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations,
to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where applicable.
โ€ข Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty and keep commitments. Behave in a consistent manner, keeping sensitive
information confidential and adhering to ethical and professional standards.
Education/Qualifications
โ€ข High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS Diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years' experience; or 7 years' experience in a related field.
โ€ข Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
โ€ข OEM training and certifications are preferred.
โ€ข Participate in and complete all-in company required training
โ€ข This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
โ€ข A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted
in leu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.
โ€ข Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.
โ€ข Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR review required; Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File
