A body shop technician repairs or modifies the exterior of a car or other vehicle. Someone with professional certification in this career can also be known as a body repair technician. In this role, your job duties include replacing car panels, filling holes, removing rust, and flattening dents. You use sanders and other equipment to finish the repair, and then you repaint the damaged area. This job often requires the use of welding and grinding equipment. In addition to their repair responsibilities, some automotive body techs work with car lights and windows, while others customize cars by attaching aftermarket parts to the car’s exterior.
