Job description

Interventional Cardiovascular (Pre-Op) Admission & Recovery (ICAR) is seeking a full time Registered PACU Nurse to work 3x12 hour shifts: shift schedule 6a-6pm; 7a-7p and 9a-9p (must be able to work all shifts); with minimal Saturday and holiday on call requirement.

Patient Population includes all age ranges from infant to adult and includes pediatric patients.

We are located on the ground floor of the Inova Schar Heart & Vascular Center - Fairfax Medical Campus. This is a fast paced, team-oriented unit with an emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration. Many opportunities for growth and involvement in the unit and hospital initiatives. This unit also supports the CT guided biopsy procedures in the ICPH building. All staff are cross-trained and required to float between both locations.

  • Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure care of outpatient and inpatient populations,
  • Electrophysiology procedures- pacemaker/ICD placement, leadless pacemaker, ablations-VT, SVT, A-Fib, A-Flutter
  • Cardiac catheterization procedures- left and right heart caths, heart biopsies, ASD/PFO closures, carotid stents, and structural heart procedures
  • Interventional Radiology procedures- angiograms, chemoembolization, IVS filter, Mediports, thrombolysis, venograms, G/J tube placements, nephrostomy and biliary tubes

RN PACU Qualifications:

  • One year of PACU or Critical Care Nursing (ICU/ED) experience is required
  • Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate's degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
  • RN license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • BLS healthcare provider certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) required at start

RN PACU preferred qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of PACU or critical care nursing (ICU or ED)

  • Experience working with pediatric and adult patients
