Job description

Description Do you like being in an active, outdoor setting around water. Engage with adults and children alike. Montgomery County Parks, Enterprise Division, is currently seeking dynamic, energetic, fun Seasonal Intermittent applicants to fill our exciting positions at Black Hill Boats, located in Black Hill Regional Park and Lake Needwood Boats, located in Rock Creek Regional Par.

Examples of Important Duties OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE: Boat Dock Hand (Starts @ $15.45/hr) Provide assistance to children and adults boarding and exiting a variety of vessels including kayaks, canoes, peddle boats, rowboats and stand-up paddle boards. Cleans and maintains boats, life jackets, boating equipment, docks, and grounds at the facility. Performs general administrative tasks such as cash handling, sales of admissions and other retail items, answering phones and general paperwork filing and office work

May work outside for up to eight hours per day. Perform custodial maintenance such as sweeping, mopping, trash removal, organization of supplies and equipment and general facility upkeep. Knowledge of fundamental computer skills, including operation of a point-of-sale system.

Qualifications: Weekend work is required. Ability to complete a Boaters Safety Certificate Course within two weeks of hire date. Minimum age: 16 Boat Shop Manager on Duty (Starting at $15.45 - $18.72/hr) Assists Facility Manager with managing and operating a boat rental facility

Responsibilities include managing staff, staff schedules and programs. Supervises staff engaged in operational activities, cash handling, and custodial maintenance related to facility operations. Knowledge of fundamental computer skills, including operation of a point-of-sale system.

Prepares cash reports and bank deposits for manager's approval. Operates the patrol boat to monitor the lake and assist customers as needed. Notifies Manager of facility needs and requests orders for supplies.

Qualifications: Weekend work is required. Ability to complete a Boaters Safety Certificate Course within two weeks of hire date. Boat operating experience (including motorboats) is preferred.

Minimum age: 18 Pontoon Tour Operator - Lake Needwood Only (Starting at $15.45 - $18.72/hr) Operates weekend public pontoon tours of the lake as well as private rides and programs during the week. When not operating the tour boat, Pontoon Operator assists Manager on Duty with all aspects of managing and operating the boat rental facility. Knowledge of fundamental computer skills, including operation of a point-of-sale system

Supervises staff engaged in operational activities, cash handling and custodial maintenance related to facility operations. Qualifications: Weekend work is required. Ability to complete a Boaters Safety Certificate Course within two weeks of hire date.

Boat operating experience (including motorboats) is preferred. Minimum age: 18 Supplemental Information May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. These positions are seasonal (part-time) and do not include benefits.

Pay rates are based on experience and qualifications. Availability to work Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day strongly preferred. Applicant's ages 16-17 require a work permit.

All selected candidates must display excellent customer service skills, attain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (training classes available) and attend in-house orientation. Ongoing continued training and internal growth opportunities available. A complete background investigation will be completed prior to hire.
