Rochester, MN | Full-Time
Base + Commission | $75,000-$95,000+ (Top Performers $100,000+)

River Valley Marine is hiring a Marine Buyer & Consignment Specialist in Rochester, MN. This is a performance-driven role focused on sourcing, evaluating, acquiring, and selling used boats while building strong relationships with private sellers, trade-in customers, and marine buyers throughout the region.

This is a highly specialized position-not entry level. We are looking for someone with real marine experience, strong boat valuation knowledge, and the confidence to evaluate condition, negotiate deals, and manage inventory from acquisition through resale.

Compensation

  • Base salary plus commission structure
    Typical earnings: $75,000-$95,000 annually
    Top performers: $100,000+
    Income driven by acquisition performance, deal structure, and gross profit
    Strong inbound lead flow and established customer base

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
    Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (weekday off provided)
    Flexible schedule required during peak boating season

What You'll Be Doing

  • Source and acquire quality used boats from private sellers and trade-ins
    Evaluate boat condition, features, age, and market demand to determine value
    Negotiate purchase and consignment agreements with sellers and buyers
    Build and manage a profitable consignment inventory of used boats
    List and sell boats using online platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and Messenger
    Assist with showroom sales, walk-in customers, and dealership events
    Manage titles, contracts, and transaction paperwork accurately
    Maintain organized, professional showroom and lot presentation
    Follow dealership sales processes and inventory standards
    Support overall used boat sales performance and profitability

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of boats, marine products, and vessel condition evaluation
    Experience in marine, automotive, powersports, or dealership environments preferred
    Confident negotiating purchases and managing pricing decisions
    Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    Comfortable working independently with performance-based goals
    Detail-oriented with contracts, titles, and transaction accuracy
    Self-motivated, disciplined, and results-driven
    Experience using Facebook Marketplace or digital sales platforms strongly preferred
    Valid driver's license required
