BATTERY SYSTEMS ENGINEER

RESPONSABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES :

Battery Systems:  

  • Responsible for performing battery pack design; emphasis on architectural and electrical aspects 

  • Develops test procedures and cell cycling equipment for performing electrical product and component evaluations (both internally and in labs) 

  • Perform technical risk and performance analysis and simulation 

  • Maintain time records and project reports as required 

  • Participate in process improvement 

Collaboration:  

  • Collaborates with customer and development team to analyze and document requirements 

  • Collaborate with other engineers on the global team as needed or required 

  • Perform 5S duties at the end of the day/week 

Support:  

  • Provide technical guidance to all engineering disciplines through all phases of the APQP development process 

  • Support customer integration and validation of battery pack, onsite when required 

  • Support program management in post-sourcing reviews of hardware, software and systems 

Legal Compliance:  

  • This role operates under TISAX confidentiality level [Level 2], requiring appropriate handling of sensitive information
  • Ensure legal compliance with state, federal and OSHA requirements 

  • Ensure ISO procedures are followed 

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, work instructions and procedures 

PROFILE : 

Personal Background 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science or related engineering field  

  • Required: Minimum of 8+ years of experience in engineering, ideally in the battery or automotive industry with hybrid and/or electric vehicles 

  • Preferred: 4 years' experience in battery pack development 

Job Technical Skills 

  • Strong knowledge of DFMEA process 

  • Experience with schematic software 

  • Experience with design verification 

  • Ability to review customer requirements and develop gap analysis to establish variant lists 

  • Background in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering and battery systems is a big plus 

  • Familiarity with automotive quality systems (IATF/ISO standards) 

  • Knowledge of quality, safety and manufacturability of battery packs  

  • Experience with high voltage and high capacity lithium ion battery systems: LTO and NMC preferred 

  • Experience specifying and setting up tests with cyclers and other diagnostic equipment 

  • Experience with BMS software control algorithms and hardware design preferred 

  • Experience with power electronics preferred 

  • Demonstrable experience with tools and test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, meters, diagnostics/analysis software) to perform standardized certification testing

  • Team of 5 locally plus strong support from a 40-person European team (Poland, France, Germany)
