Description

Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Admissions Clerk to join our team!

JOB SUMMARY:

Reviews medical records after discharge for completeness in compliance with the hospitals bylaws, federal and state requirements. Assures that patient's abstracts are correctly entered into the chart deficiency system. Monitors accounts being admitted daily for duplication of medical records numbers, along with checking patients discharge status when assembling the chart. Communicates with physicians about delinquent reports. Assures the completion of incomplete medical records within the time frame as specified by the medical staff rules and regulations. Is familiar with requirements of the state guidelines of timeframes for processing of the charts such as the History and Physical and Operatives report timeframes allowed. Also knows Medical Record content, maintenance and retention of records.

Please note benefits are based on eligibility according to full-time, part-time or PRN status classification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collects all discharged patient charts from the patient care units on a daily basis.
  2. Collects loose filling for those discharged charts and inserts such filing in proper charts.
  3. Assembles discharged patient charts according to assembly list.
  4. Places assembled chart in proper folder according to medical record number.
  5. Analyzes medical records of discharged patients for completeness and accuracy according to department and hospital policies and procedures.
  6. Assists in retrieving charts for physician completion.
  7. Answers incoming calls to the department in a professional, timely manner.
  8. Forwards all analyzed charts to the coder.
  9. Pulls delinquency charts according to deficiency list.
  10. Files or scans all charts back to main file.
  11. Makes and attaches medical record numbers for new charts.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

Experience: One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software.

Language/Communication: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals along with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form along with the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.
