Job description

The Global IT Director is responsible for leading the organization's global information technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and digital transformation initiatives. This role partners closely with executive leadership to ensure technology solutions support business objectives, operational excellence, and future growth across all global locations.

The Global IT Director will oversee all aspects of IT operations, including infrastructure, network security, ERP systems, applications, help desk support, business intelligence, and technology project execution. This individual will develop and implement a global IT roadmap while ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions across the enterprise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the global IT strategy aligned with business objectives and long-term growth plans.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, business intelligence, and organizational performance.
  • Establish and maintain global IT governance, standards, policies, and procedures.

Infrastructure & Operations

  • Oversee all global IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud platforms, telecommunications, and end-user computing.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of all enterprise systems.
  • Direct IT support services and ensure timely resolution of technical issues across all locations.
  • Manage disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain enterprise cybersecurity strategies and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, customer, and industry requirements.
  • Lead risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and security awareness initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain security controls to protect company data, systems, and intellectual property.

Enterprise Applications

  • Oversee ERP, CRM, MES, PLM, and other business-critical applications.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for system improvements and process automation.
  • Manage system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and optimization efforts.
  • Ensure data integrity, system reliability, and user adoption.

Project & Vendor Management

  • Lead global IT projects from planning through implementation.
  • Develop project priorities, budgets, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Manage relationships with software providers, technology partners, consultants, and managed service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor performance aligns with business expectations.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the global IT budget.
  • Evaluate technology investments and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining service quality and security.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global IT organization.
  • Establish performance expectations, accountability, and professional development plans.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience

10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience.

5+ years leading global IT operations in a manufacturing environment.

Experience supporting multiple international locations.

Strong ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).

Proven success leading digital transformation and enterprise technology initiatives.

Experience managing cybersecurity programs and IT compliance requirements.
