Position Summary

  • The ADAS Warranty Acceleration Team (WAT) Engineer is responsible for monitoring, investigating, and driving resolution of field quality and warranty issues related to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) across vehicle programs.

  • This role serves as a key technical interface between Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Service, Customer Experience, Suppliers, and Warranty organizations to rapidly identify emerging issues, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions that improve vehicle quality and customer satisfaction.

  • The ADAS WAT Engineer leverages warranty data, dealership reports, connected vehicle information, diagnostic data, and engineering analyses to identify trends and prioritize quality concerns.

  • The engineer leads cross-functional investigations involving ADAS hardware, software, sensors, vehicle integration, calibration, and driver assistance features to ensure timely resolution of customer-impacting issues.

  • This position is well suited for candidates with a background in Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technologies, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related disciplines who are passionate about quality improvement, data analysis, problem solving, and advanced automotive technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead investigation and resolution of warranty and field quality concerns involving ADAS systems across multiple vehicle programs.

  • Analyze warranty claims, dealership repair data, customer complaints, connected vehicle data, and field reports to identify emerging trends and quality risks.

  • Coordinate root cause investigations involving ADAS hardware, software, sensors, vehicle integration, calibration, environmental conditions, and user interactions.

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between engineering teams, suppliers, service organizations, manufacturing facilities, and quality departments during issue resolution activities.

  • Drive rapid containment, corrective actions, and permanent solutions for customer-impacting ADAS issues.

  • Lead structured problem-solving activities utilizing 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and other quality methodologies.

  • Review diagnostic data, software logs, validation results, and vehicle test data to support failure analysis and issue replication efforts.

  • Collaborate with supplier teams to evaluate field concerns, review corrective actions, and validate countermeasures.

  • Support vehicle inspections, field evaluations, dealership visits, and issue reproduction activities when necessary.

  • Monitor quality KPIs and warranty performance metrics, providing regular status updates and management reports.

  • Identify systemic quality concerns and recommend improvements to product designs, software releases, validation plans, diagnostics, and manufacturing processes.

  • Partner with ADAS Development, Systems, Validation, Functional Safety, and Vehicle Integration teams to ensure lessons learned are incorporated into future vehicle programs.

  • Support launch readiness activities by evaluating historical warranty data and proactively addressing known risk areas.

  • Assist in the development of quality improvement strategies aimed at reducing warranty costs and improving customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of investigations, corrective actions, lessons learned, and issue resolution progress.

  • Understanding of embedded systems, software applications, and hardware/software integration principles.

  • Knowledge of data analysis methods and performance trending techniques.

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting, debugging, testing, and validation processes.

  • Understanding of communication networks and protocols such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and diagnostic tools.

  • Ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate across cross-functional and global teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience through internships, academic projects, co-op assignments, or professional roles involving automotive systems, ADAS technologies, embedded systems, software development, quality engineering, or product validation.

  • Familiarity with ADAS features including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Park Assist, Driver Monitoring Systems, Blind Spot Monitoring, and related technologies.

  • Knowledge of automotive quality tools including 8D, 5-Why, FTA, DFMEA, PFMEA, and statistical analysis methods.

  • Experience with warranty analysis, quality investigations, field issue management, or customer satisfaction initiatives.

  • Familiarity with vehicle diagnostics, data logging, calibration processes, and failure analysis techniques.

  • Knowledge of automotive development processes, validation methodologies, and change management practices.

  • Experience working with suppliers and coordinating technical issue resolution activities.

  • Understanding of Functional Safety (ISO 26262), SOTIF (ISO 21448), and ADAS validation concepts.
