Account Executive

Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 per year

Overview

A rapidly growing, innovation-driven life sciences organization is seeking an Account Executive to drive revenue growth across the New England region. This individual will focus on selling advanced histology and digital pathology services to biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic research clients.

This is a highly consultative, field-based role requiring strong technical fluency, a proactive sales mindset, and the ability to build long-term partnerships within the research community.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Drive territory growth through targeted prospecting, outreach, and in-person client engagement
  • Develop new business across biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic accounts
  • Present service offerings, negotiate agreements, and close complex deals
  • Maintain a strong pipeline and consistently achieve sales targets
  • Expand existing accounts by identifying upsell opportunities and increasing project scope

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with researchers, principal investigators (PIs), and lab leadership
  • Provide consultative support to align services with client research needs
  • Deliver a high level of responsiveness and problem-solving to drive long-term partnerships

Market Development & Industry Presence

  • Represent the organization at scientific conferences, trade shows, and industry events
  • Identify emerging trends and opportunities within biomedical research and pathology services
  • Monitor competitive landscape to inform territory strategy

Strategy, Reporting & Collaboration

  • Track and analyze sales performance, pipeline activity, and market trends
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and laboratory teams
  • Support scoping, pricing, and execution of complex service agreements (SOWs)
  • Ensure consistent messaging and brand representation across all client interactions
Required Qualifications
  • 510 years of life sciences sales experience (preferably laboratory, histology, or pathology services)
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or a related field
  • Proven track record of success in a field-based, quota-driven sales role
  • Strong understanding of histology, specimen processing, and pathology workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, build pipeline, and close new business
  • Willingness to travel throughout the New England territory
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience selling into biotech, pharmaceutical, or academic research environments
  • Hands-on laboratory or research experience in biomedical sciences
  • Familiarity with digital pathology and image analysis technologies
  • Established network within life sciences research communities
  • Knowledge of advanced histology techniques (e.g., IHC, immunofluorescence, image analysis, etc.)
