Position Summary
The Accountant will play a critical role in supporting financial operations within a pharmaceutical marketing environment. This position is responsible for project‐level accounting, revenue recognition under GAAP, cash flow management and financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings advanced Excel skills, and the ability to translate financial and operational data into actionable insights. A good understanding of the digital development process is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Project Accounting & Revenue Recognition
- Manage project‐level accounting for pharmaceutical marketing projects (digital and non-digital) ensuring accurate tracking of revenue, costs, margins, and deferred revenue.
- Perform revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including assessment of performance obligations, timing, and supporting documentation.
- Partner with project managers and operations to ensure financial alignment with contract terms, project milestones, and deliverables.
- Prepare and maintain reconciliations related to project WIP, deferred revenue, accrued revenue, and billing variances.
Financial Reporting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Assist with short‐term and long‐term forecasting, including project revenue forecasts, gross margin projections, and cash flow forecasts.
- Maintain financial models, dashboards, and executive‐level reporting to support business decision‐making.
- Analyze financial and operational drivers impacting project profitability, revenue timing, and cash flow.
KPI Analysis & Performance Tracking
- Produce recurring KPI dashboards and scorecards for finance leadership, project managers, and senior stakeholders.
Cash Flow, Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable
- Monitor and analyze cash flow, including customer collections, vendor payments, and overall working capital trends.
- Perform accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, collections analysis, and aging reviews.
- Coordinate & process accounts payable to ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices & payments.
- Proactively identify and communicate cash flow risks and improvement opportunities.
Compliance, Audit & Special Reporting
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with annual 1099 reporting, including vendor review, reconciliation, and coordination of required filings.
- Prepare ad‐hoc financial analyses and reporting to support finance leadership, operations, and executive management.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of finance operations, compliance, and business initiatives.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Serve as a finance data subject matter expert, leveraging advanced Excel and reporting tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and visibility.
- Work with CRM systems to support revenue tracking, pipeline analysis, and forecasting accuracy.
- Partner with finance and cross‐functional teams to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting automation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1–3+ years of experience in project accounting and financial analysis, preferably within a pharmaceutical or life sciences marketing agency. New graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP.
- Experience with cash flow analysis, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, financial modeling, and data analysis.
