SUMMARY OF THE JOB
We are seeking a talented Field Services Engineer to join our team.
The Field Service Engineer's (FSE) primary role is to perform services on customer sites: preventive & corrective maintenance, commissioning, installation supervision & modification of Gutor UPS systems and batteries. The FSE works on both, on- and off-shore sites, and is in direct contact with the customer. The FSE is the connection between the customer and Gutor's Customer Service department. If hired, must be able to travel to Malaysia or Switzerland for a mandatory 6-week training.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข Performing installation supervision and commissioning of Gutor systems
including the batteries.
โ€ข Performing preventive and corrective maintenance for Gutor UPS equipment
including batteries.
โ€ข Solving UPS problems at customers' sites and providing reports on these issues.
โ€ข Responsible for identifying and reporting failure modes encountered in the
field, as well as for determining the cause of these failures.
โ€ข Training customers on equipment operation and maintenance of Gutor
systems.
โ€ข Interacting with customers by phone or face-to-face.
โ€ข Representing Gutor in dealing with customer concerns.
โ€ข Promoting proactively Gutor services & products, including contracts, spare
parts, preventive maintenance, modifications, digital services, etc.
โ€ข Keeping databases updated with completed reports & documents.
โ€ข Complete work in a safe manner, in charge for the safety onsite, making sure
that nobody & no properties are endangered.
โ€ข Help generate the regional business by discovering leads and opportunities
for Gutor customers.
โ€ข Help out in the technical support, if necessary.
โ€ข Support other teams with expertise on demand, and with pro-active feedback (i.e. sales, test bay, R&D).
โ€ข Provide help to secure / improve quality by means of IQ soft entries and other tools.
โ€ข 24 hours stand-by on demand.
โ€ข Self-Training on existing and new products of the Gutor Portfolio.
โ€ข Evaluation of Warranty / Goodwill claims.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
โ€ข Electrical technician with at least 3 years of experience in field services (UPS)
or similar experience.
โ€ข BS degree of electrical engineering, electronic engineering or equivalent.
โ€ข Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, Level 1 Support (ideal: level 2 Support) Remote support for troubleshooting experience in handling international customers with high expectations.
โ€ข 3 - 5 years of related experience
โ€ข Strong knowledge of electronic theory to component level / electro-technical education.
โ€ข PC knowledge including profound knowledge of typical office applications and networking.
โ€ข Good written & verbal communication skills. Ability to have technical conversations with the customer.
โ€ข Ability to analyze complex problems.
โ€ข Good self-expression, negotiation skills and ability to explain things in a comprehensive and intelligible way
โ€ข Cross-cultural knowledge & ability to adapt.
โ€ข Passport, Drivers license and TWIC Card.
โ€ข Structured way of analyzing & solving technical issues independently (with
support when required)
โ€ข High level of professionalism and integrity.
โ€ข Self-motivated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
โ€ข Good written & verbal communication skills in Spanish and Portuguese. Ability to have technical conversations with the customer in Spanish and Portuguese.

POSITION TYPE:
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
