Sterile Services Co. (SSC) is hiring a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to support the federal customer mission in Williamsburg, VA. This role supports a broad range of biomedical equipment across the equipment lifecycle, performing inspections, calibrations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and documentation to ensure equipment remains safe, functional, and mission-ready for deployment and sustainment operations.

Requirements


Duties & Responsibilitiesย 

  • Perform inspections, calibrations, preventive maintenance (PM), and repairs on medical/dental/scientific equipment, surgical instruments, and related materiel.
  • Conduct diagnostics and technical testing including evaluation of voltage tolerances, amperage, power supplies, waveform shape, frequency resonance, deflection time, decay curve, gain, balance, and signal sensitivity using appropriate test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Support a wide range of biomedical systems including (examples): sterilizers, suction/pressure systems, anesthesia vaporizers, IV infusion pumps, vital signs monitors, ventilators, imaging/X-ray equipment, CT scanners, and oxygen/air generation equipment.
  • Utilize biomedical test equipment including (as applicable): patient simulators, pulse generators, network analyzers, test phantoms, electrical safety analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • Load or support installation of operating systems and clinical application software as required.
  • Document all work performed in the required computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and maintain equipment logs to meet HTM documentation requirements and applicable standards.
  • Investigate, remediate, and document Repairable Medical Device (RMD) recalls and safety alerts within required timeframes.
  • Participate in safety and process improvement initiatives such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and safety work groups.
  • Maintain functional knowledge of applicable safety codes and regulatory standards including The Joint Commission (TJC), NFPA, FDA, NRC, and AAMI.
  • Review SOPs and maintenance checklists to ensure compliance with manufacturer literature and applicable codes/standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments to prepare equipment for rapid worldwide deployment supporting humanitarian, disaster relief, and contingency operations.
  • Support equipment end-of-life actions including decommissioning, data sanitization, condition evaluation for disposal, and replacement planning support.
  • As required by operational tempo, support related material handling and logistics tasks such as receiving/stowing, inventory support, and TMDE accountability.

Required Qualifications

  • DoD Biomedical Equipment Technician program completion OR Associate degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology OR Associate degree in Electronics Technology AND must be a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET).
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and repairs on a range of biomedical equipment and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic troubleshooting, medical equipment service operations, and use of diagnostic/test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical manuals, specifications, regulations, and guidance materials.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including standing/walking/bending and lifting/carrying 45+ lbs.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting DoD, Navy, DHA, or expeditionary medical logistics/maintenance environments.
  • Experience with deployment readiness, kitting/platform support, or field maintenance support.
  • Familiarity with HTM documentation practices and compliance-driven maintenance programs.
