Job description


 AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. We are a national organization that serves local customer needs. Centralization and standardization are key to many AIPSO services because of the inherent economies of scale and other efficiencies.  However, our organization is based on customer focus and recognizes the need for flexibility in serving customer groups with diverse interests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and coordinate premiums and customer accounts.
  • Assist with resolving billing discrepancies by investigating billing errors and recommending process improvements to avoid future errors.
  • Assist with the administration of the policyholder refund process by verifying and ensuring accounts due a refund are handled appropriately and refund checks are printed timely and verified.
  • Support administrative functions related to cash processing and billing policyholders.
  • Handle the preparation and completion of daily cash receipts (payments) and ensure payments are deposited timely.
  • Coordinate daily bank deposits and ensure that checks are processed timely.
  • Ensure payments are promptly recorded and entered into the billing system.
  • Review and verify all supporting documentation needed to prepare payments and bills to policyholders.
  • Assist with reconciliation of bills, update and balance accounts by tracking all payment and transaction records.
  • Handle billing related customer service inquiries from insureds and producers.
  • Assist with reconciliation of premium and commission disbursements.

Education:
An Associate's Degree (AA/AS) from a two-year college or university majoring in accounting, business management, or finance is preferred.   Additional appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
1 or more years of general accounting or billing experience, including experience working directly with customers, is desired.  Experience working in the insurance industry and insurance designations are a plus. 
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word) to manage work.  Advanced skills using MS Excel.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze complex issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by following directions and interpreting customer needs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with numbers and calculations.

Salary Range: $38,000 - $60,800/$45,100 - $72,100 Annual.  Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
