The role often involves collaborating with stakeholders to develop interventions that nudge individuals toward beneficial behaviours.

What are some typical projects or responsibilities in a behavioural insights role?

In a Behavioural Insights role, you might work on projects such as designing experiments to test new processes, analyzing the impact of policy changes, or developing strategies to influence public or consumer behavior. Day-to-day tasks often include collecting and analyzing data, writing reports that translate complex findings into actionable recommendations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams like marketing, product development, or public policy. You may also contribute to workshops or training sessions to build behavioral science capacity within an organization. This variety offers a dynamic work environment where your research directly informs decision-making and drives measurable change.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a behavioural insights position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Behavioural Insights, you need a strong background in psychology, data analysis, and research methodologies, often supported by a relevant degree such as behavioral science or economics. Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, or Python), survey tools, and data visualization platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and stakeholder management skills help professionals convey findings and collaborate across teams. These skills are vital to effectively design, analyze, and implement evidence-based behavioral interventions that drive meaningful organizational or policy outcomes.

Is behavioral science in high demand?

Behavioral science roles are increasingly in demand across industries such as marketing, healthcare, and public policy, as organizations seek to understand and influence human behavior. Skills in data analysis, psychology, and research methods are highly valued, and demand is expected to grow with the expansion of evidence-based decision-making practices.
