What is a BCBA in technology?

A BCBA, or Board Certified Behavior Analyst, in technology is a professional who applies principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) using technological tools to improve learning, behavioral outcomes, or therapy delivery. They may design, implement, and monitor technology-assisted interventions for individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities. This can include using apps, software, data tracking systems, and telehealth platforms to enhance behavioral assessment and treatment. BCBA technology specialists help integrate digital solutions to make ABA therapy more effective and accessible.

How does a BCBA integrate technology into their daily practice to enhance client outcomes?

In the BCBA role, technology is often leveraged to streamline data collection, monitor client progress, and facilitate communication with stakeholders. Tools like electronic data capture systems, telehealth platforms, and behavior tracking apps allow BCBAs to efficiently analyze data and adjust treatment plans in real time. Adapting to these technologies can be a learning curve, but they ultimately enable more informed decision-making and better collaboration with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a BCBA specializing in technology, and why are they important?

To excel as a BCBA specializing in technology, you need a solid background in applied behavior analysis, a BCBA certification, and a deep understanding of integrating technology into behavioral interventions. Familiarity with data collection software, telehealth platforms, and digital behavior tracking tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with teams and tailor technology solutions to client needs. These skills are crucial for leveraging technology to enhance treatment effectiveness, increase efficiency, and improve client outcomes in behavioral health settings.

Job description

Step Ahead ABA is hiring a Registered Behavior Technician for one client in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Schedule: schedule confirmed with our placement team. This posting is for a single client case, so the hours and days above are the actual hours, not a range we hope to fill.

ABOUT THIS CASE

A BCBA is already assigned to this client and covers this region. You get the treatment plan and a handoff before your first session, not after. Our current RBTs get first look at every new case — we fill from inside before we go outside. If this posting is up, the case is still open; we take postings down the day a client is matched.

WHY STEP AHEAD ABA

We believe every autistic child and their family deserves access to therapy, no matter their income. Step Ahead supports families on Medicaid across Indiana, and we go the extra mile to keep those plans open. Every family gets a dedicated care manager and a schedule built around their real week. Your schedule comes from three things: what is clinically appropriate for the client, the family's availability, and yours. It is never set by a corporate hours target.

THE CLINICAL SIDE

  • You deliver 97153 direct therapy to a treatment plan and behavior intervention plan written by the BCBA who assessed this client.
  • Supervision is real supervision: QA and IOA checks in session, observation, and feedback you can use — not a signature at the end of the month.
  • You collect session data and submit notes for the work you do. Non-billable time is paid at $10 per hour.
  • Our BCBAs and clinical directors bring a combined 40+ years of clinical and operational ABA experience.

WHAT THIS ROLE REQUIRES

  • Active RBT certification with the BACB. Not certified yet? Step Ahead offers complimentary support to get there — see our Behavior Technician posting.
  • Prior ABA experience
  • Availability schedule confirmed with our placement team
  • Reliable transportation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to stay active and engaged in session

WHAT YOU GET

  • $23 per billable hour to start, with a pay increase at each level of the RBT Leveling System. $10 per hour for non-billable time — training and required meetings, a small share of the week. You know both numbers before you start.
  • Cancellation protection as you level up. A client cancelling should not wipe out your week, and from Level 1 there are bonuses that protect your pay.
  • The RBT Leveling System: pay increases, gift card rewards, priority for client placement, and floating holidays as you move up.
  • You pick your clients and set your own hours.
  • Capella University partnership — discounted tuition and degree support, plus BCBA supervision and a pathway if that is where you are headed.
  • Benefits at 40 hours a week. This case is part-time; our placement team will tell you what else is open near you.

Apply below and our placement team will be in touch.
