Responsibilities for the staff accountant position include performing a variety of account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, providing fiscal year-end audit and tax preparation support and managing daily incoming cash. Specific duties include journal entry preparation and review, posting daily cash received, non-grant restricted fund set-up, oversight and support to campus, utilizing Treasury Management software to ensure auto-posting is functioning optimally, and maintenance of orderly files and workpapers which provide an audit trail and assisting departments in understanding accounting procedures and the Banner financial system.

After an initial 3-6 month training period, this position would be eligible to participate in the University’s remote work program, which provides for up to 2 days of remote work per week.

Qualifications
  • Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years
  • Degree Qualifications: BBA in Accounting or Finance
  • Skill Qualifications: Strong background in auditing coursework.
  • Must have a high comfort level with technology and proficiency with Microsoft Excel Strong accounting background, attention to detail and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred but not necessary to apply: CPA or a Masters degree.
