Job Summary
To direct the nursing care of the residents and ensure that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the facility's standards, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements, to plan, organize, implement and evaluate resident care and nursing services in all nursing neighborhoods. Position will also supervise and mentor nursing employees.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Monitor PPD and adhere to guidelines. State 3.2/3.3 budget
  2. Facilitate physician orders,
  3. Can use technology competently
  4. Assure proper identification of each resident and maintenance of complete, accurate resident records.
  5. Assists in establishing good public relations and staff relations. Can deal with residents, families, and the public on a personal basis.
  6. Knows established Policies and Procedures and recommends changes/updates as needed.
  7. Assure appropriate staffing to meet residents care needs.
  8. Monitor residents' care and direct staff in the provision of care.
  9. Keep physicians, family, and staff updated regarding residents' condition and any changes in condition or untoward events
  10. Make independent decisions regarding nursing care.
  11. Can handle emergency situations of all types competently
  12. Maintain accurate and adequate documentation and records of resident care.
  13. Demonstrate principles of good management
  14. Analyze and evaluate nursing services needs
  15. Participate in assessing and assuring the quality of resident care
  16. Follow routine duties of supervisor.

  19. Monitor call bell times and educate staff accordingly for compliance

  33. Coordinates order follow through for 360, Mindcare, outside appointments etc.
  34. Monitor behavior notes for accuracy against aide documentation
  35. Update families of new therapy orders
  36. MXC 24-hour report to drive nursing report for follow up items
  37. Unsigned order report nightly (Day Baylor)
  38. Missed aide charting report each night shift (Day Baylor)
  39. Missed med report each night shift (Day Baylor)
  40. Participate in the College Way dining room for breakfast at 0730 (Day Baylor)
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Will be required to help cover supervising of other shifts, weekends and provide holiday coverage
  2. Participate in rotating call coverage for RN compliance
  3. All other duties as assigned

Working Conditions
Works in a clean, well-heated, well-lit and well-ventilated building. Prolonged standing and walking, repeated bending, squatting, and stooping. Exposure to all resident elements including infection, odors and to peculiarities in behavior and reactions of the elderly. Assists with emergencies and in restraining violent or combative residents.
Job Qualifications Necessary to Perform Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Completion of state approved Registered Nurse Program and must hold a current PA nursing license and must have basic CPR Certification. BSN preferred. Previous experience in hospital or nursing home preferred.
  • Sense of responsibility, moral integrity and common sense.
  • Sincere desire to work with elderly. Patience and compassion are essential. Pleasant, cheerful, tactful, courteous when handling residents and/or families.
  • Ability to cooperate with other personnel. Ability to treat patient information confidentially.
  • Must be able to lift, turn and reposition residents both alone and with assistance with and without the use of mechanical devices. Must also be able to assist others with lifting, turning and repositioning residents both with and without the use of mechanical devices. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position including lifting residents with help.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat of harm to themselves, others or property.
  • Must adhere to Wesbury's personnel policies and practices including, but not limited to, the attendance requirements.

As part of this plan, a copy of the Task Evaluation and Classification Form must be made as part of each job description. The next page of this job description is a copy of that form. It indicates the tasks likely to be performed during this job, the type of body fluid/substances to which exposure is likely, volume, probability of exposure, route of exposure, and protective barriers which are to be employed. All employees hired will be fully trained on Blood Borne Pathogens and Other Potential Infectious Materials Exposure Control Plan on the day of hire or prior to initial assignment. Along with this training, all employees will be provided with a copy of the Task Evaluation and Classification Form related to the job description.
