Job description

The Certificate Technician role is an entry point into a lifelong career, offering structured development, exposure to the insurance business, and clear pathways for advancement. You'll be introduced to IMA's culture, clients, and service teams while building the skills needed to move into a service role. If you're motivated, detail-oriented, and ready to grow, this role is built for you.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Supports and demonstrates IMA's core values
  • Values and understands the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion among all IMA associates
  • Is comfortable working in a structured, learning-focused environment with guidance, coaching, and regular feedback as skills are developed
  • Learns how to process certificates of insurance by supporting IMA clients and service teams with certificate requests, rejected certificates, and endorsement questions
  • Is trained to review basic contract and certificate requirements to identify coverage needs and compliance, escalating questions as needed
  • Gradually builds the skills to process certificates with increasing independence over time
  • Assists with special projects and reports as requested
  • Assists with renewal processes, as requested
  • Maintains accurate account documentation in EPIC, with training and support
  • Learns how to identify necessary coverages and limits by reviewing policies and working closely with the Service Team
  • Is trained to review insurance policies and accurately represent coverage on certificate templates in alignment with National Certificates Team standards

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS include but are not limited to:
  • No prior insurance experience required; training will be provided
  • Previous office, administrative, customer service, or detail-oriented work experience helpful but not required
  • 2-year college degree preferred
  • Basic to intermediate skill with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) preferred
  • Comfort learning new computer systems and software (training provided on EPIC, CSR24, and MYCOI)
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
