Job description

This is an onsite position at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.

As our Birth Certificate Clerk, you will help ensure every newborn's birth is accurately documented and reported. Every day you will collect and verify birth information, enter and submit birth records in the Electronic Birth Registration System (EBRS), and guide parents through the birth certificate and related processes. To thrive in this role you must be detail-oriented, comfortable with confidential information, adept at using electronic systems, and able to communicate clearly and compassionately with new parents and clinical staff.
Here's what you will experience working as a Birth Certificate Clerk:
  • Support parents in completing birth worksheets, paternity acknowledgments, and related documentation.
  • Collaborate with nursing, providers, and HIM to resolve documentation discrepancies and ensure timely registration.
  • Maintain compliance with state vital records regulations, HIPAA, and hospital policies.
  • Assist with audits, quality checks, and accurate recordkeeping for birth documentation.

Required Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in HIM, medical records, or Vital Records preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with HIPAA and work independently.

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $16.61 - $22.95 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
