The Simulation Lab Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based learning experiences for nursing students and healthcare professionals. This role combines expertise in nursing practice with instructional design and simulation technology to enhance the education and training of individuals in the healthcare field. The Simulation Lab Coordinator plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between theory and clinical practice through immersive and realistic simulation scenarios. This person will use their simulation methodology experience to create a vision for simulation at Goodwin University across nursing schools.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborate with program director and nursing faculty to integrate simulation-based learning into the nursing curriculum

  • Design and develop realistic and scenario-based simulations that align with learning objectives and clinical competencies.
  • Facilitate and manage simulation sessions, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Operate simulation equipment and technology to create authentic healthcare scenarios.
  • Provide guidance and support to learners during simulation activities.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for faculty (clinical and didactic), staff, and students on the effective use of simulation equipment and resources.
  • Train and mentor faculty in simulation-based teaching and learning methodologies.
  • Implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of simulation-based learning experiences.
  • Evaluate learner performance during simulations and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Analyze data to continuously enhance the quality of simulation programs.
  • Ensure compliance with best practices, industry standards, and accreditation requirements in simulation education.
  • Regularly update and maintain simulation equipment to ensure functionality and realism.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of advancements in nursing practice, education, and simulation technology.

Other Functions:

  • Performs similar, or related work as required, directed or as the situation dictates.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

  • Demonstrated commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work in an environment in which all members of the University community are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Previous experience in simulation preferred. Knowledge of multiple healthcare disciplines is a plus.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution credentialed to teach in the School of Nursing
  • Three years of collegiate teaching and or simulation experience
  • Active CT RN licensure
  • Proficiency in operating simulation equipment and technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Credentialed as CSHE (certified simulation health educator) or other simulation certifications.
