Job description



GENERAL MANAGER

The General Manager, at their discretion, will have access to all Post 22 facilities including the Academy, the field & Academy during practices, the dugout during games, etc. Access to the bus, motel rooms, field, dugout, etc. on road trips. The GM will make every effort to go on out of town trips with each team at least once or twice during the season to provide additional supervision & guidance. 

 1. Board Liaison: The GM is required to attend all Board meetings, unless otherwise directed, and act as a liaison between the Board and the Program. The GM would continue to be a non-voting participant in Board meetings. 

      2. Budget & financial oversight

  • Prepare & submit annual budget for the next calendar year to the Board for approval by no later than Oct. 31st. 
  • Monitor adherence to the budget. Prior approval of expenditures by coaches, staff, etc. Audits of expenses, payroll, etc. Oversight of the purchase of new equipment, uniforms, field projects. 
  • Prepare & provide information for Federal tax returns and state sales tax reports. 
  • Prepare plans and apply for funds from external sources sources (i.e. vision funds) for field/stadium/Academy improvement projects. Cooperation and assistance with the Post 22 Foundation to assist in its success.. 

       3. Staff supervision & discipline

  • Responsible for the hiring and firing of all BPI staff except the Head Coach position. 
  • Assistant coaches: The Head Coach will recommend qualified candidates to the GM. The GM, along with the Head Coach, will review resumes, check references, background checks, complete interviews, etc. The GM will approve the final hiring decisions. 
  • Head Coach: GM will seek and interview qualified candidates for the Head Coach position (along with members of the Executive Committee of the Board). GM will make hiring & firing recommendations to the Board. The Board will make the final approval in either case.. 



  • Prepare and file executed pay plan agreements with BPI staff. Complete performance reviews, incident reports, etc. with all full-time staff. Ensure compliance with employment laws (employment posters, OSHA, etc.). Specific duties and structure for BPI staff and interns. Develop & Implement a Policies & Procedures manual which clearly defines staff structure & reporting procedure with respect to staff and player behavior (i.e. what should be reported and to whom). 

   4. Equipment, Field, Academy: 

Assist with the inspection of the field, stadium, & Academy to ensure safety of the players, coaches, and spectators. Ensure that the presentation of the field, stadium, and Academy is excellent. Recommend completion of projects. Organize the parent group for completion of projects and clean-up days. Oversee ordering & inventory accountability for Catch 22, Post 22 equipment, uniforms, etc. Ensure all equipment is in working & safe operating condition. Monitor equipment preventive maintenance, maintenance in general when needed, and proper winterizing of equipment. Monitor the Academy operations with respect to achieving financial goals, scheduling, appearance, and overall operations. 

   5. Fundraising, Work Schedule, & Conflict Resolution: 

Organize and provide structure & communication to the parent group regarding fund raising & conflict resolution. Organize & implement fundraising activities. Select chairpersons for committees and be the liaison between committees and the Board. Organize & implement promo nights and home tournaments, along with any state and regional tournaments awarded. Assist with review and implementation of the Player Handbook. Develop and complete Yearbook and season program. 

 6. Social Media/IT: Oversee social media, website, Post 22 live, etc. updates, productions, promotions, etc. 

 7. Develop plan and apply for hosting state & regional tournaments. 

 8. Assist in the development of the game/travel schedule. Secure travel arrangements and develop structured itineraries. Provide itineraries to coaches, players, parents, etc. 

 9. Assist with supervision & discipline of players. Ensure that on field behavior by players adheres to the Tradition of Excellence" (sprinting to positions, hustling, sportsmanship, etc.) and is consistent with our mission statement. 

 10. Assist Head Coach with college recruiting and assisting players and their families for placement in college baseball programs. Assist in organizing and implementing activities with area little leagues and other organizations to promote Post 22.
