Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Sales Manager, this position sells the various products that Basalite manufactures or represents to various customers and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Contacts customers primarily in person and by telephone. Follows up as need with digital communications via email and text. Customers include end user contractors primarily, though not only limited to. Other customers could include architects, engineers, general contractors and owners reps.
  • Cash sale customers on occasion.
  • Conducts formal presentations on Basalite products to customers to obtain specifications.
  • Educates potential customers regarding company’s available manufactured or partner products.
  • Provide value to above listed customers by providing Basalite solutions to their projects and keeps them up to date on new products.
  • Educate customers on best practices related to products we manufacture or represent and provide bids on the various types of products.
  • Gives job quotes and meets with customers to discuss production timetables for orders.
  • Delivers samples to customers and potential customers as requested.
  • Performs post-bid job follow-up.
  • Participates in industry associations and attends industry events to promote engineered products and companies.
  • Ability to read construction documents and provide Basalite Product bids based off the set requirements utilizing lead services.
  • Attend in-house sales meetings and contractors’ meetings.
  • Performs required paperwork and maintains job order file. Including keeping a current project tracking sheet and company customer relations management software up to date.
  • Discern market trends and keep management informed of any significant occurrence or trend that may affect the company. This also includes new and related products.
  • Attend weekly production meetings and quarterly sales team meetings.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives.
  • Abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Minimum Five years’ sales experience in the construction/ engineering industry preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work with little supervision.
  • Professional speaking/presenting skills preferred. Must have the ability to verbally communicate highly technical information to the professional community. Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Training and experience are interchangeable on a year for year basis.
  • Knowledge of construction, ability to read plans and working knowledge of local codes and ASTM and industry standards preferred.
  • Requires good reading, writing, and mathematical skills as well Excel and WORD software skills.
  • Requires on the job training with Company Programs.
  • Ability to operate automobile, personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit.
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist; Lift and/or move up-to 75 pounds.
  • Up to 95% of local travel time required. Use of a personal vehicle for duties related to position. The position offers local travel within your assigned territory, giving you the opportunity to meet face-to-face with contractors, distributors, and project managers while still maintaining work-life balance without extensive overnight travel.

COMPENSATION EXPECTATIONS

  • Annual salary range of $70,000–$80,000, with additional benefits including car allowance, phone allowance, internet allowance, as well as a gas card and company-provided laptop.
