Job description

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. We are a proud member of the Pacific Coast Building Products Family of Companies.

Pay $25-28/HR

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the DOT/Driver Supervisor, this position supports the Basalite Organization in driving trucks to pick-up and deliver products; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Fill out logbooks, work sheets and reports and has knowledge of Electronic Logging Device (ELD).
  1. Secures loads with ropes, straps, chains and binders, brick boards and tarps.
  2. Determines types of equipment to be used for jobs.
  3. Transports products throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada to customers, stores, yards and jobsites.
  4. Loads and unloads trucks as needed.
  5. Maintains and fuels trucks and performs inspections on equipment.
  • Maintains work area clean and clutter free per company standards.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  1. Ability to operate forklifts and drives a variety of trucks including truck & trailers, doubles, triples and semi-trailer trucks.
  2. Must have working knowledge of local, state and federal laws and safety regulations. 
  3. Requires basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
  4. Basic mathematics is required.
  5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  6. On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional manner in dealing with employees and the public.
  8. Operation of mobile electronic equipment may be required. 
  • Must have a valid Class A driver's license and a good driving record and be Basalite certified to operate a forklift. Class A with Triples and Tanker Endorsements.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit. 
  • Occasionally climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling may be required. 
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist.
  • Lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.

  • Mechanical environment with moderate to loud noise, moving and vibrating machinery, dusty, dirty, fumes and/or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, hot and cold (non-weather) conditions.

  • Operating heavy equipment on private and public roadways.
