Position Description
The Concrete Paving Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all concrete paving operations on heavy civil construction projects, including slipform paving, concrete batch plants, flatwork, curb and gutter, and related concrete structures. This role leads field execution to ensure paving operations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
Working in coordination with the Director of Operations, Project Managers, Project Superintendent and field leadership, the Concrete Paving Superintendent manages crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors while enforcing safety programs, maintaining production rates, and ensuring consistent concrete quality. This position plays a critical role in coordinating paving operations, solving field challenges, and delivering high-quality concrete infrastructure.
Position Requirements
  • High School Degree
  • Preferred: Post-Secondary Degree (Trade or Bachelor's)
  • Minimum 7+ years of heavy civil construction experience with a strong focus on concrete paving operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with slipform paving, curb & gutter, flatwork, or structural concrete placement.
  • Strong understanding of concrete production, placement methods, finishing, curing practices, and QC/QA standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, paving profiles, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with TxDOT and municipal concrete paving requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead crews, foremen, and subcontractors in high-production paving environments.
  • Strong scheduling and sequencing knowledge for paving operations.
  • Experience coordinating batch plants, trucking, paving crews, and supporting trades.
  • OSHA safety knowledge and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to monitor paving yields, production rates, and equipment utilization.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work extended field hours as required
