Job description

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. We are a proud member of the Pacific Coast Building Products Family of Companies.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Split/Cut/Grind Superintendent and department Supervisor, this position supports the Block production in all areas of Splitter, Tumbler, Crusher, Saw, Grinder, Pallet sort\wrap and maintenance; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Check-in with WIP Supervisor at the beginning of each shift to discuss any items for the day.
  • Checks blocks for proper quality (splits, cuts and grindings)
  • Keep Grinder properly adjusted at all times; keep both BB saw and Table Saw(s) properly adjusted at all times
  • Keep all tumbled and blended product in good quality and ensure tumbler is adjusted at all times.
  • Perform general up-keep of all respective process machines; grease all machines and related process equipment as needed; be familiar and comfortable with all respective process machines.
  • Keep all WIP processes running at maximum efficiency, help keep WIP area cleaned during machine changes and at the end of the shift daily; keep area neat and clean at all times.
  • Work with Plant Superintendent when he needs extra help; assist Yard Supervisor when help is needed (i.e., pallet sorting, product sorting); assist in the plant when help is needed.
  • Keep cull buckets dumped and stocked at WIP area at all times.
  • Stock rows of block straight and neat.
  • Put inventory in proper place as per Yard Supervisor and/or WIP Supervisor
  • Service all respectively used forklifts daily; fill fuel; check engine oil and hydraulic oil
  • Blow out air filter
  • Grease side shift and steering
  • Wash engine area and exterior (once a month)
  • Promote and maintain all 5S Housekeeping standards
  • Notify WIP Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor and/or Plant Manager of any problems at Production Meetings and Safety Meetings.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable and regular attendance is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent experience
  2. Requires reading, writing, and counting skills
  3. Communicates effectively with peers and management
  4. Must be able to read and use tape measure - basic math
  5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  6. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  7. On the job training experience is required to be able to perform essential duties
  8. Forklift operation is preferrable (Basalite Forklift Certification must be obtained as on the job training)
  9. Learn and follow all safety procedures for the equipment
  10. Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, including a push broom and dump bins
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist; Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Team lift between 50-100 lbs.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.

  • Plant environment with loud noise, moving and vibrating machinery, dusty, dirty, fumes and\or airborne particles.

SALARY RANGE: $22-$27/HR. DOE
