Job description

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. We are a proud member of the Pacific Coast Building Products Family of Companies.

Salary Range: $18 - $22 DOE

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Yard/Logistics Supervisor, this position supports the yard, delivery, customer service and assisting in all areas as needed and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Inspects, maintains, checks all fluid levels, and fuels forklift as needed.
  • Operates forklift to transport brick, block, stone etc.
  • Loads material on trucks.
  • Assists customers and communicates with sales counter.
  • Consolidates lanes.
  • Fills out paperwork as required.
  • Performs clean-up in yard.
  • Do not load customers unless they have a sales order ticker or hand ticket.
  • Double checking loads for other forklift drivers for customers and delivery loads.
  • Remove keys, lock doors, and roll up windows for the delivery trucks, and the front-end loader at the end of shift.
  • Opening access gates at the beginning of your shift and closing them at the end of the business day.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required, and work overtime when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • On-the-job training required to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Written and oral communication skills required to communicate with customers and peers.
  • Requires basic math skills.
  • Basic Mechanical aptitude and physical dexterity.
  • Ability to operate forklift and any other equipment required to perform duties
  • Basalite Forklift Certification must be obtained.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required and work overtime when needed.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit.

  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist; Lift and/or move up-to 100 pounds.
