Key Responsibilities
  • Baristas are experts in their craft, possessing a deep understanding of coffee blends, the art of coffee roasting, the intricacies of operating and maintaining espresso machines, and the delicate skill of frothing milk, as well as providing a fantastic sensory experience with tea.
  • They actively ensure that beverage service team members at assigned bar locations act as company ambassadors and maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
  • They also drive the service excellence culture and platform by overseeing the Bar Steward, Jr. Bar Steward & Utility F&B performance at their location, providing guidance as needed, and interacting with guests to ensure their satisfaction with the beverage product and service.
  • Baristas understand the setup, product, and service expectations of their area and promptly corrects any deficiencies that would negatively impact the guest experience.
  • They partner with the Bar Supervisor to respond to guest feedback from all platforms and develop an action plan for immediate service recovery or a corrective action plan to improve service.
  • They own their experience areas and partners with the beverage staff to oversee the development, implementation, and execution of the product and service in accordance with brand standards.
  • Baristas are also responsible for ensuring that all beverages, including coffe beverages and tea drinks are accurately, professionally, and timely executed in accordance with company standards.
  • They prepare and maintain a clean, sanitized, and fully stocked bar area at all times and ensures that any damage to equipment, fixtures, and fittings is reported immediately and rectified in a timely manner.
  • They drive beverage sales performance and promotions, ensuring that they and their teammates actively upsell and promote all specialty dining venues while maintaining a guest-centric approach.
  • Barista also ensure guest orders are processed promptly and accurately through the on-board POS system.
  • They are esponsible for all beverage inventory at the assigned location and conducts inventory counts as directed, following company guidelines and investigating variances in a timely manner.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a barista in a large hospitality setting is required, encompassing the preparation and service of a diverse range of international drinks, coffee beverages, and tea drinks.
  • A Certification in barista techniques, which attests proficiency in coffee preparation and service, is highly desirable.
  • The ability to create latte art is also desirable, however a comprehensive understanding of coffee and its various forms is highly required.
  • Proficiency in operating coffee machines and grinders.
  • Proficiency in the English and Japanese language, both in verbal and written communication.
  • Understanding of the foundation of guest service; ability and willingness to deliver outstanding service to our guests.
  • Motivation to excel in all aspects of job duties and responsibilities.
  • Personable communicator with outstanding social skills and a warm, friendly, and caring personality.
  • Ability to continuously surprise and delight guests throughout their cruise experience.
  • Commitment to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationships in a diverse cultural environment.
