Overview
The bartender will be responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, processing guest payments, maintaining a clean and organized bar area, monitoring inventory, and providing friendly and professional guest service. The bartender must follow all company policies and local alcohol-service regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Greet guests and provide friendly, professional, and attentive service.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages according to recipes and company standards.
  • Prepare and serve the property's available food items in accordance with established recipes, portion standards, and food-safety requirements.
  • Enter all beverage and food orders accurately into the POS system.
  • Process credit and debit card payments, as the property is cashless.
  • Verify guest identification and comply with all alcohol-service laws, company policies, and responsible beverage-service requirements.
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and refuse service when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar and food-preparation area.
  • Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures.
  • Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, food items, glassware, and other supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify management when products or supplies are running low.
  • Complete opening and closing duties, including setting up, cleaning, restocking, and securing the bar area.
  • Clean glassware, utensils, equipment, counters, and food-preparation surfaces.
  • Respond to guest questions and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Work closely with other hotel departments and assist during busy periods, special events, and high-occupancy dates.
  • Follow all hotel safety, sanitation, security, and cashless payment procedures.

Qualifications
  • Previous bartending, restaurant, or food and beverage experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Knowledge of basic drink preparation, beverage service, and responsible alcohol-service practices.
  • Ability to prepare and serve the property's limited food menu according to established recipes and food-safety standards.
  • Current food handler certification or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
  • Responsible alcohol-service certification, such as Louisiana Responsible Vendor certification, or the ability to obtain it.
  • Ability to accurately operate a POS system and process credit and debit card transactions in a cashless environment.
  • Strong guest-service and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain professional and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, or move supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as business needs require.
  • Ability to follow hotel policies, sanitation requirements, safety procedures, and local alcohol-service regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
