Job description

The Banquet Captain is responsible for supervising banquet staff and coordinating food and beverage service during events. This position ensures that banquet functions are properly set up, service runs smoothly, and guests receive excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff.
  • Assign staff duties and monitor performance throughout the event.
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of banquet rooms and service areas.
  • Ensure tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and equipment are properly arranged.
  • Coordinate food and beverage service according to the event schedule.
  • Communicate with the chef, event manager, client, and banquet staff.
  • Ensure food and beverages are served promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and address service concerns as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the event.
  • Ensure staff follow company policies and proper food-safety procedures.
  • Assist with training and coaching banquet staff.
  • Monitor inventory and report missing or damaged equipment and supplies.
  • Handle unexpected issues and make quick decisions to keep the event running smoothly.
  • Assist with closing duties, cleanup, and securing the banquet area.

Qualifications:

  • Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred.
