About the Laboratory:

  • The laboratory at Montrose Regional Health is fully accredited by the Joint Commission of Accredited Healthcare Organizations and registered by the State of Colorado. It is staffed by certified medical technologists and technicians working under the supervision of two full-time pathologists. The "lab" at MRH is a fascinating, busy, and interesting place.

Position Overview:

Performs various chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Applies techniques used in the field of blood banking, hematology, serology, chemistry and morphological examinations. Records test results, quality control, remedial action.

In conjunction with the Laboratory Technical Director and Medical Director, ensures technical and regulatory oversight of the Blood Bank section in the Laboratory to include: continual compliance to federal, state and/or local regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, acts as a technical resource for staff, maintains essential equipment function checks, review and development of policies and procedures, participation in hospital blood utilization, preparation and oversight of department quality assurance/improvement and quality control program.

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Education: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university. Required national certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or equivalent or equally qualified through examination by the Health Education and Welfare accreditation program.
  1. Training/Experience: 2 years of training/experience in a Laboratory performing blood bank testing and transfusion services.

Job Knowledge: Complete operational ability in all Lab areas.
