Project Manager to join the East Bank Program Management Team (EBPMT). This highly motivated individual should be experienced in coordinating public infrastructure and utilities for transportation and civil-site projects, from the design phase through construction. They will support the EBPMT, PM, Deputy PM for Engineering, other project managers, and task/discipline leads on a daily basis. The successful candidate will report to the HDR's downtown Nashville Office when it opens in summer 2026. In the interim, the candidate will report to HDR's Brentwood office.

In the role of Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Responsible for project management aspects of complex small to medium projects or conceptual design of large projects
  • Produce and coordinate the conceptual design of several small to medium projects concurrently
  • Communicate and coordinate with public agencies, utility companies, project teams and the EBPMT specific to the development of transportation, civil-site and utility infrastructure within the East Bank. 
  • Plan, organize and supervise work of a team of professionals and technicians as needed 
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of coordination efforts and delivery and receipt of documentation, including routine updates to the EBPMT 
  • Review and track utility agreements and memoranda of agreements between utility companies and the Client as applicable to the project design 
  • Coordinate with utility companies to obtain, review, and maintain utility-specific documentation (i.e. prior rights, as-builts, encroachment permits, standards and specifications, etc.) 
  • Review, track, and/or prepare cost estimates and schedules applicable to the program 
  • Review civil-site and utility design plans for compliance with applicable utility company requirements, contract requirements, and agreements. 
  • Review and/or lead the preparation of project design plans for utility conflicts and develop/evaluate feasible alternatives for mitigation 
  • Review and or prepare design reports and applicable data specific to proposed projects 
  • Review and/or prepare specifications and contract documents 
  • Perform and/or manage complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures 
  • Participate in regular program and project coordination meetings 
  • Review and/or oversee the development of utility plans, specifications, and estimates and support the development of other discipline design plans 
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and other civil engineering software as appropriate. 
  • Professional Engineer in Tennessee (or ability to obtain reciprocity within agreed timeframe). 
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to travel to project sites and participate in field visits as needed. 
  • Experience in cost estimating (HCSS) and scheduling (Primavera, Microsoft Projects, etc.) a plus. 
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported. 
  • Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary environments. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7 years related experience inclusive of a minimum 2 years experience in project management
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • MS Office and MS Project experience is required 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
