Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing the development, direction, and control of lending market and portfolio. Responsible for making loans as directed within established lending limits with full accountability for the bank's business and consumer activities. Handles collections for consumer and residential loans.

Sales: 30%
  • Expands bank's customer base, increases the bank's visibility and enhances new business opportunities by prospecting potential customers with emphasis on expanding portfolio penetration, participating in the officer call program, participating in community affairs. Has a significant role in the bank's business development activities. Attracts new commercial, consumer and community relationships and expands existing relationships through the call program.
  • Cross-sells bank products by answering inquiries; informing customers of new services and product promotions; ascertaining customers' needs; directing customers to a branch or department representative and ensuring their follow-up by sales personnel.
  • Develops and manages all types of loan accounts. Interviews applicants, gathers and evaluates financial and related data to establish credit worthiness, establishes and re-negotiates credit terms, when necessary.
  • Meets with existing customers to ensure proper servicing of accounts and to expand existing business relationships.
  • Determines customer needs through verbal and written communication to cross sell appropriate bank products and services.
  • Acts as a liaison between the customer and departments of the bank.
  • Responds to requests for information, requests for proposals and invitations to bid from commercial and government entities.
  • Provides training and support regarding cash management products and services.
  • Monitor activity on facilities to ensure usage is consistent with approved terms and conditions, especially relating to formula-based facilities. This position, with assistance from Commercial support, is responsible to ensure the propriety of advances and repayments.

Service: 40%
  • Closes loans using proper documentation, and continually monitors customers' financial condition and repayment progress. Assesses customers' banking and financial needs.
  • Manages the banking needs of a portfolio by communicating regularly with customers; reviewing documentation and financial records; monitoring payment schedules; conducting customer visits.
  • Supports other Lenders within the department with portfolio management, preliminary credit analysis, customer relationships and business development calls as needed.
  • Works directly with customers to orient them to the required documentation for obtaining or paying off loans.

Other Duties: 30%
  • Prepares lending reports for bank review by the loan committee or supervisor. Presents loans exceeding loan limits to the loan committee. Protects the bank's assets by monitoring the watch list credits, developing an action plan for classified credits to up-grade their status.
  • Processes collection of charge off loans and accounts.
  • May be assigned specific workout and collection duties.
  • May be required to register annually with the National Registry Service providing the required information and authorization to bank management to complete fingerprinting and a background check, according to the requirements of the SAFE Act for all Mortgage Loan Originators (MLO). Complies with the spirit and intent of this regulation by providing the resulting identifying number on all bank correspondence, loan documents, and communications with mortgage loan applicants.
  • Assists in Business development efforts throughout the bank.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects bank operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort, working with other bank officers, to accomplish related results related to the goals of the bank.
  • Participates in civic and community activities to generate visibility and contact for the bank.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Attends mandatory compliance and security sessions. Monitors daily work for adherence to compliance and security regulations, policies/procedures, and promptly corrects any deficiencies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Bachelor degree in business/finance/Ag Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years bank lending experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding business banking principles.
  • Written and oral communication skills including the ability to made presentations.
  • Computer literacy including the knowledge of the basic layout and functions of a computer key board. Understanding of basic word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of and ability to cross-sell FCB products and services to customers-such as the ability to identify customers' needs, communicate services, explain advantages, and close sales activity.
  • Interpersonal skills for working with the public and interacting with co-workers, presenting a professional image of the bank, and servicing prospective and current customer inquiries, requests, and complaints.
