Job Description
Software Engineering Section Lead - C4ISR Space Systems

At BAE Systems, you will be part of a mission driven team that delivers innovative solutions to safeguard our nation.
We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to serve as a Functional Manager within our Software Engineering organization. This position offers the chance to make a lasting impact within the C4ISR Space Systems while advancing your own leadership career.
In this position, you will guide a talented team of engineers while driving the design, implementation, and sustainment of mission-critical software solutions. You will provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, oversee program execution, and plan for next generation solutions. You will also lead on the people side, growing the team through hiring and mentoring engineers, developing careers, and guiding performance across the team.
Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, career development, and performance management for a team of software engineers.
  • Conduct one-on-one and section level meetings.
  • Provide a safe, inclusive culture.
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new team members to meet business needs.
  • Use your technical skills and experience to ensure the design, implementation, and sustainment of our software solutions meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Contribute to bid and proposal efforts.
  • Collaborate with other functional managers and discipline leads to ensure program success.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this role/program, the expectation is that this job will be performed on site in Hudson or Merrimack, NH.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Top Secret Security Clearance (active within the past two years)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with leadership responsibilities in either a functional and/or technical role.
  • Ability to lead a medium to large groups
  • Demonstrated ability to guide individuals through complicated or difficult situations effectively and professionally
  • Experience with software and systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to multi-task, collaborate, and advocate for others


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Prior functional management experience or other leadership experience (i.e. general supervision, performance management, staffing)
  • Experience with Software Defined Radios, Optical Communication, or RF
  • Linux experience

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $149603 - $254317
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
