Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking Engineering Manager to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. The ideal candidate will be someone who can lead a team of five to seven engineers toward meeting a set of objectives, demonstrate the behaviors to effectively communicate, coordinate, collaborate, and work in a visible and proactive manner across organizational boundaries to deliver positive results. This role is fit for someone who can be a highly engaging, team-oriented, problem solving, and self-starting individual able to respond rapidly to a dynamic programmatic environment.
As the Test Development Engineering Manager for the System Test program area, your responsibilities span engineering management, personnel management, and customer relationship management including:
Engineering Management
  • Manage the Test Development and Test Documentation authoring activities including maintaining related requirements documentation (Test Data Requirements Document and Test Programs Requirement Document) as well as conduct of analysis and issuance of Test Analysis Reports for test data produced via the Test process.
  • Manage execution of engineering capabilities (people, process, tools) and work products (deliverables) in the areas of systems test policy and process definition.
  • Ensure the timely development of system test products to support issuance of contract deliverables.
  • Support System Test activities across the engineering lifecycle, for a complex systems-of-systems, including the mapping of requirements to system attributes and interfaces.
  • Identify System Test assessment characteristics that can be gathered from component level development testing activities for use in system level integration assessments.
  • Support the test team in the execution of compatibility and interoperability assessments to ensure the entire system will have the form, fit, and function to execute the intended mission(s).
  • Support Test leadership in the development of presentations and materials to support technical meetings and program reviews.
  • Attending meetings, as necessary, to support tasks above. Some meeting may occur offsite, requiring local travel to Washington, DC or subsystem development/testing facilities.
  • Applying Modeling-based Systems Engineering tools to develop digital engineering products
Personnel Management
  • Functional management over a five-to-seven-person team to include performance and development objective setting, conduct of semi-annual performance reviews, personnel development and training, annual salary planning, and hiring/onboarding of new personnel.
  • Assemble, lead, and manage high-performance team focused on delivering engineering products and developing innovative solutions to complex mission and business challenges.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain exceptional relationships with GS-14 level US Navy customers/clients to solve technical problems and implement solutions of high complexity.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/System Engineering or other related science degree and eight years of relevant experience or twelve years of SSBN SWS experience in lieu of a degree
  • 8 years' experience supporting systems engineering on large DoD weapon system programs
  • Experience in Test and Evaluation methodologies including test planning, execution, and reporting
  • Experience in System/Subsystem level testing
  • Experience in research and data analysis
  • Experience in engineering design, fabrication, interface definition, and requirements verification / system testing
  • Experience with leading projects involving multiple team members
  • Experience with presenting project status to management and/or the customer
  • Experience in organizing and hosting meetings involving multiple stakeholders
  • Must possess strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with PC and MS Office suite including MS Project
  • Willingness and ability to travel

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience in managing a team of Engineers
  • 10 years' experience supporting systems engineering on large DoD weapon system programs
  • Experience with the Navy SSP or TRIDENT programs
  • Experience with Navy Submarines (e.g. Missile Technician (MT) or Navigation Electronics Technician (NAV ET))
  • ASEP or CSEP certification
  • Experience with DoD weapons system
  • Experience in research and data analysis
  • Experience preparing for and leading design reviews or customer meetings

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $132962 - $226035
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
