At Backus Hospital, we are focused on supporting our colleagues. Our Registered Nurses have the opportunity to practice at the top of their license using research, innovation and evidence-based practices. We offer our Graduate Registered Nurses clinical instruction and additional learning opportunities as they complete the Nurse Residency program.
For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.
The Registered Nurse demonstrates clinical competence through utilization of the nursing process and development of a synergistic nurse-patient relationship. Assesses and identifies patient problems/needs, establishes a plan of care, implements and evaluates care provided to patients.
NOTE: This is a per diem position, that helps cover any shift, any day of the week. Must be able to cover at least one holiday annually.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN or MSN preferred)
  • Current Connecticut RN license
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
