Job description

Position Description: ForwardEdge ASIC is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to design, support, and enhance the infrastructure that enables both enterprise IT operations and advanced ASIC design environments. This role combines infrastructure engineering, CAD/EDA platform support, automation, and architecture. The engineer will work closely with ASIC design engineering teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure environments for semiconductor development while maintaining core corporate IT services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who thrives in a fast-paced engineering organization and enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure & CAD/EDA Platform Support• Support and maintain Linux-based engineering environments used for ASIC and semiconductor development.• Administer and optimize compute, storage, networking, and high-performance computing (HPC) resources.• Support CAD/EDA tool environments, including application deployment, license management, and infrastructure integration.• Partner with design engineers to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and workflow issues affecting design productivity.• Ensure high availability, performance, scalability, and security of engineering and corporate IT systems.Infrastructure Architecture & Operations• Design, implement, and maintain on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure solutions.• Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, documentation, and operational procedures.• Evaluate and implement technologies that improve reliability, security, and engineering efficiency.• Manage backup, disaster recovery, data protection, and business continuity capabilities.Automation & Configuration Management• Implement and maintain configuration management and infrastructure-as-code practices.• Develop automation using scripting and tools such as Ansible and Python.• Improve deployment, monitoring, patching, and operational workflows through automation.• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and support procedures.Security & Compliance• Support cybersecurity initiatives and compliance with corporate and government security requirements.• Implement security controls for export-controlled and classified environments as required.• Monitor infrastructure risks and recommend mitigation strategies.Project & Vendor Management• Lead or participate in infrastructure and engineering systems projects.• Coordinate with external vendors and service providers.• Communicate technical solutions, risks, and project status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or related disciplines.• Experience supporting engineering computing environments in semiconductor, microelectronics, or similar technical industries.• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.Required Technical Skills• Linux systems administration in enterprise or engineering environments• Infrastructure technologies including storage, virtualization, backup, and disaster recovery• Identity and access management (Active Directory and LDAP)• Scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or similar tools• Networking fundamentals and cybersecurity best practices• Experience supporting engineering computing, HPC, or CAD/EDA environmentsPreferred Skills• Familiarity with Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens EDA, or similar tool ecosystems• EDA license management (FlexLM/FlexNet)• Infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, or Python• Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)What We OfferCollaborative, fun, fast-paced, and innovative start-up environmentCompetitive Compensation & Benefits: medical/dental/vision/life insurance, STD/LTD, parental leave, 401(k) with company match, PTO, and paid holidaysIncentive Programs: Eligibility for short-term and long-term incentive plansJoin ForwardEdge ASIC and help build the infrastructure that powers next-generation semiconductor design and innovation. $140,000.00 - $170,000.00 Annually
