Job description

The Director, Product Management -Back Office, leads the unified product strategy and strategic execution of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?'s across key areas, including Platform, Data, the Operator Portal, and the Truck Team Member App. This role is responsible for back-office standardization and process transformation, with the primary goal of building scalable, reliable internal tools that maximize operational efficiency for corporate staff and front-line team members. The Director will also ensure that all key stakeholders-including large ownership groups with established business operations-are aligned and moving in the same direction.
Core Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Execution
  • Serve as the product leadership voice for the overarching unified back office strategy, translating the Winning Aspiration, Where We Play, and How We Win strategy into a standardized and coherent product roadmap and execution plan
  • Ensure the team is working on the highest-leverage problems at any given time, and that effort is not diffused across too many priorities
  • Pressure-test team approaches - challenging assumptions, validating customer insight, and ensuring product decisions are grounded in customer truth and our Product and Technology Strategy.
  • Connect product strategy to operational and go-to-market realities

Process Transformation & Standardization
  • Lead back office business operations process optimization efforts to standardize operational processes across the system
  • Drive the analysis and documentation of current state business operations value stream process mapping as well as the desired target standardized end state
  • Create a transformational business process roadmap to convey the sequenced phases in order to achieve the desired target end state

Team Leadership & Capacity Building
  • Lead and develop the back office product team, including sr. product managers and product managers
  • Build a team environment where PMs can operate with clarity, autonomy, and strong strategic context
  • Identify gaps in capability or capacity early and flag to SVP. Position reports to SVP, Product

Stakeholder Management & Franchise Alignment
  • Ensure key stakeholders - including large ownership groups with established business operations - are aligned and moving in the same direction
  • Create a clear and respectful path for integrating franchise expertise into the formal product and revenue model being developed
  • Communicate progress, decisions, and tradeoffs clearly to franchise executive stakeholders, managing expectations through a period of significant change
  • Represent product priorities in senior leadership conversations and cross-functional planning

Organizational Agility & Decision Quality
  • Ensure teams are not stuck - surfacing blockers, resolving ambiguity, and escalating where needed
  • Bring the right people into the right conversations at the right time
  • Maintain a clear view of what is decided, what is in progress, and what is still open across the product agenda
Required Qualifications
Professional Experience
  • Tenure: 10-12 years of dedicated product management experience with at least 5 years experience in operational process transformation
  • Leadership: 5+ years managing, coaching, and scaling high-performing product teams.
  • Domain Expertise: Proven track record delivering standardized enterprise platforms, complex data pipelines, or high-utilization operational tools.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma or Lean methodologies
  • Extensive experience in value stream and swimlane process mapping

HYBRID WORK ENVIRONMENT
