SUMMARY

The Back-End Web Developer designs, develops, maintains, and supports secure back-end applications and services that enable critical business operations. This role partners with Information Technology, Information Security, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure solutions while maintaining existing applications and supporting modernization initiatives. The position is responsible for application performance, system integrations, technical documentation, and continuous improvement of development practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Design, develop, maintain, and enhance secure back-end applications using Python and related technologies.
  2. Administer and optimize web application environments, including server configuration, performance tuning, and reliability improvements.
  3. Partner with Information Security to identify, remediate, and prevent application vulnerabilities identified through penetration testing and security assessments.
  4. Configure and maintain IIS web servers, SSL certificates, and related infrastructure supporting secure application delivery.
  5. Develop, implement, and maintain API integrations between internal systems and external business partners.
  6. Collaborate with front-end developers and cross-functional teams to support application integration, testing, and deployment activities.
  7. Maintain technical documentation, coding standards, and development best practices to support long-term application sustainability.
  8. Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and development methodologies that improve application performance and business capabilities.
  9. Support legacy applications while contributing to modernization and migration initiatives.
  10. Participate in project planning, effort estimation, and technical problem solving to ensure successful project delivery.
  11. Special projects and assignments as business dictates.
  12. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required
  • 2-4 years of software development experience with Python and back-end application development required.
  • Experience with ColdFusion preferred
  • Experience with IIS administration, server architecture, and application hosting.
  • Knowledge of secure application development, penetration test remediation, and security best practices.
  • Experience integrating RESTful/B2B APIs and managing secure data exchanges.
  • Experience with SSL certificate management and application infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with legacy technologies such as PHP or ColdFusion preferred.
  • Exposure to modern web frameworks such as React or Angular preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.
  • Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently.
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness.
