Job description

This PART-TIME position leads physical education classes for a small Christian School. This individual will teach PE classes with a Youth Pastor / Coaching heart. This individual will plan or follow a plan provided and implement instruction/activities in each class. Each class will motivate students to be active while promoting good behavior.

Essential Functions (including, but not limited to):

Equipment and lesson plans are provided. Extra over-the-phone and video training will be available.

Execute lesson plans with students in the physical education activities. Follow our safety-first approach to limit incidents and/or injuries.

Coordinates students in physical education activities: Plans physical education instruction to promote development of students physical attributes, ensure student safety, provide details of expectations of the activity and promote rules of respect. Organize, leads, instructs games and activities. Research physical education activities and materials. Report to director on content and progress throughout school season. Build rapport with principal/director of school to keep them informed on progress. Provide a fun, safe learning environment. Uses appropriate classroom management techniques, manages the group while giving individual attention. Assists in maintaining the schools appearance where PE classes are conducted. Perform other duties as assigned.


Skills/Requirements:

Enjoys working with children, and has some sports background. Ability to be on time and strives for perfect attendance. Ability to manage plan as well as flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of children. Ability to work independently with general direction from director. Ability to work while being observed. Ability to work with all ages. Excellent oral and written communication skills, practice open communication with director. Highly motivated and organized with high energy and a positive attitude. Working knowledge of effective educational techniques. Must be confident and articulate when challenged and able to act as a professional in front of parents, teachers and staff. Must be able to speak in front of groups of various sizes and ages.


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to play actively with children on their level, stand for extensive periods of time, and move quickly when necessary. Must be able to work and move outside in the typical Florida climate, at times temperatures in the 90's.


Education/Experience:

Current teacher certification is a plus. A bachelor's degree or higher in education. Experience in formal or non-formal setting such as teaching, coaching, or working with children. Current CPR and First Aid cards are suggested.
