Reports to: Principal
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, at minimum, with at least a minor in physical education.
- Appropriate licensure as required by Illinois law with an endorsement in physical education, required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in physical education instruction including fitness testing.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability ot incorporate Illinois professional teaching standards into classroom instruction.
- An interest and/or experience in the development of student-focused instructional environments.
- A strong commitment to professional excellence.
- The ability to work collaboratively with others to optimize student achievement.
- A willingness to participate in staff development opportunities.

Job Description:
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance, and individual, dual or team sports.
- Analyzes, demonstrates and explains basic skills and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms and fundamentals of body movement.
- Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, to the extent feasible and nurtures a feeling of self respect and self worth within each child.
- Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of pupils.
- Recommends the purchase of equipment and maintains inventory and storage of school property.
- Evaluates each pupil's growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports.
