Job description

Job Title: Product Owner - MarTech (D365 & Azure)
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Type: Contract to hire
Rate: $60/hr on W2 (Based on experience)
Position Overview
The Product Owner will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of the organization's Marketing Technology (MarTech) platform, primarily built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Azure. This role is responsible for managing the product backlog, translating marketing strategies into technical deliverables, and ensuring successful execution within a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment.
The ideal candidate will combine strong product ownership experience with hands-on knowledge of Microsoft's ecosystem, customer data platforms, and agile delivery practices.
Core Responsibilities
1. Backlog & Vision Management
  • Own, create, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog in Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Ensure user stories are clearly defined, include acceptance criteria, and are ready for development.
  • Translate marketing objectives such as lead conversion, customer retention, and personalized journeys into technical epics and features.
  • Balance technical debt, architectural improvements, and high-value business features to maximize product value.
2. Technical Solutioning (MarTech Stack)
  • Guide the design and enhancement of solutions built on Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform.
  • Support development of model-driven apps, automated workflows using Power Automate, and custom components to improve marketing operations.
  • Oversee customer data unification using Customer Data Platform (CDP) capabilities.
  • Ensure effective use of customer profiles to build high-value segments and real-time marketing triggers.
  • Collaborate with architects and data teams to ensure Azure data sources (Data Lake, SQL, etc.) are clean, accessible, secure, and compliant.
3. Scaled Agile (SAFe) Execution
  • Lead Program Increment (PI) planning and identify dependencies with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Data Engineering, and Security.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Marketing stakeholders and IT leadership.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations related to scope, priorities, and delivery timelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an Agile or SAFe environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) for backlog and sprint management.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Azure services.
  • Experience working with customer data platforms (CDP) and marketing automation tools.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical user stories and features.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
